Technology in the Practice
Learn more about the various types of technology we use to diagnose and treat your orofacial or sleep-related breathing disorder.
Joint Vibration Analysis
Your TMJ’s or jaw joints are the skeletal foundation of your mouth. All dentists are required to assess the health and function of your TMJ’s. Our office uses Joint Vibration Analysis (JVA) which records the vibrations created by joint fluid, cartilage and bone as you open and close your mouth.
This test allows us to objectively measure and document the health of your Jaw Joint in just 10 seconds of opening and closing. It can be used to help diagnose problems with the joint that can be the cause of breakdown or pain, and can help us make sure we are aware of any underlying issues before performing any treatment that could damage or strain your jaw joints.
MLS Laser
“MLS Warm Laser Technology” Our office uses MLS Laser Therapy, a revolutionary system that has been shown to reduce inflammation, reduce pain, and promote healing DRUG-FREE! This laser is the pride and joy of our office.
Almost everything a Dentist treats is either painful, or inflammatory, and some procedures require rapid healing. This laser causes no pain and works immediately on your pain and inflammation to make you feel like you didn’t even go to the dentist.
NARIS – Rhinometry/Rhinomanometry
How you breathe through your nose can be influenced by proper growth and development of your upper and lower jaws.
We measure how you breathe through your nose and may be able to improve that with various treatment options or in cooperation with an ENT.
Home Sleep Testing
This next generation MediByte® Jr Home Sleep Testing (HSAT) device uses patent pending technology to provide simple, cost effective and reliable screening for sleep apnea.
The extra-strength LEMO™ connector and smooth nylon makes the MediByte® Jr incredibly durable. Side wings conveniently attach the unit to the chest effort belt so there is no need for a holding vest or pouch and its weight (91 grams) makes it a great choice for adults and children alike. This product is tech-savvy, saving studies on the internal memory and can be downloaded via a USB computer connection. This recorder is the next generation of screening devices and is CPAP compatible.
The MediByte® Jr may be used during titration studies or for 12-week follow-up evaluations.
FOTONA Laser
NightLase® is a leading-edge laser procedure for the treatment of snoring. It is a non-invasive, no appliance, simple and an effective way of keeping your airway open and reducing or eliminating snoring.
Laser energy is used to heat the tissues of the airway causing a tightening effect which helps to keep your airway open. NightLase® is performed with approximately three short treatments spaced over two months. Each treatment lasts 15 minutes and requires no anesthesia. The procedure is comfortable, and you can resume your daily routine immediately afterwards. Results are often seen after the first session.
Cone Beam 3D Imaging
This dynamic system offers three maximum fields of view (FOV), V8, V10, and V17. Within these sizes, you also have the option to scale or collimate the scan height to capture only the area of interest per the patient’s immediate need. The system also provides enhanced low-dose imaging options through protocols and collimation, dedicated traditional 2D panoramic capabilities, and the feature-rich Tx STUDIO™ software, powered by Anatomage.
For patients with suspect airway or sinus tissue, you can use i-CAT scans in software such as Tx STUDIO to review the 3D data and reveal compromised airways — which can be an indication of a sleep disorder.
Detect TMJ anomalies for the ability to design effective patient treatment. Using the TMJ visualization tools, zero in on the temporomandibular joints to identify wear, defects, and fractures. These tools also act as virtual study models to streamline and expedite treatment and allow you to design splints with the optional Medical Design Studio module.
